New Read

Started Reading a new book - Twyla Tharp - The creative Habit - Learn it and Use it for Life

You need to read this book. I've come to a part that i'm going to share about her five big fears when creating a new piece of art.
1. People will laugh at me.
2. Someone has done it before.
3. I have nothing to say.
4. I will upset someone I love.
5. Once executed, the Idea will never be as good as it is in my mind.

So she goes on to say yes, just about everyone can use this in any profeshion. Then this is what she had to say about those five fears.

1. People will laugh at me. Not the people I respect; They haven't yet, and they're nto going to start now. (some other have. London's Evening Standard fro m1966; "Three girls, on of them names Twyla Tharp, appearred at the Alber Hall last evening and threatedned to do the same tonight." So What? Thierty-seven years later i'm still here. )

2. Someone has done it before. Honey, it's all been done before. Nothing's really orginal. Not Homer or Shakespeare and certainly not you. Get ove ryour self.

3. I have nothing to say. An irrelevant fear. We all have somethign to say. Plus, you're panicking to soon. If the dancers dont' walk out on you, chances are the audience won't either.

4. I will upset someone I love. A serious worry that is not easily exorcied or stared down because you never know how loved ones will respond to your creation. The best you can do is remind yourself that you're a good person with good intentions. You're trying to create unity, not discord. See the curtain call. see the people standing up. Hear the crowd roaring.

5. Once executed, the Idea will never be as good as it is in my mind. Toughen up. Leon Battista Alberti, a fifteenth-century arheitechural theorist, said, "Errors accumulate in the sketch and compound in the model." But better an imperfect dome in Florence than cathedrals in the clouds.

And I'm only on page 24. I think this will be a book I own. loving it.

Another thing I'm doing - A week in the life - something scrapbookers are really into right now. I am going to do my best and ACCOMPLISH this documentation of a week in the life of me. Its all about what I do during the week. My goals whats on tv, whats going on in the news. my every day things. I'm excited, and have taken like 25 picutres of just stuff that I do daily.

You should do it too. Will you really remember next year what you were doing now? I know I wont. and I want to remember my life to share with someone or family or just to know when I'm 80 I can go back and see the difference I made or didn't make. again. I'm excited!
